Vincent (Yanhua) Huang, trombone

Vincent
Huang is currently a second-year master’s student in Trombone Performance and
Literature at the Eastman School of Music. He earned his bachelor’s degree in
Trombone Performance from Roberts Wesleyan College where he was selected for
the Presser Scholar Award in 2019. He was most recently a participant in the
Alessi Trombone Seminar (Asia Brass Festival) in Shanghai, China, as well as
the Winter Trombone Workshop at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City.
He is one of the members of the Outer Loop Trombone Quartet which was the
winner of the ATW National Quartet competition in 2021. Also, he was the 3rd
prize at the Alessi Trombone Seminar Competition in the Edwards Group in 2019,
and he was the winner of the Roberts Wesleyan College Concerto/Aria Competition
in 2018. He played with Roberts Wesleyan College Community Orchestra, Wind
Ensemble as well as the Brass Quintet during his time at Roberts and he played
with Eastman Wind Ensemble and Eastman Philharmonic orchestra during his time
at Eastman. Right now he is one of the substitute trombone player for Symphoria
at Syracuse. Vincent has performed in masterclasses with Joseph Alessi, Nitzan
Haroz, Jeremy Wilson, Haim Avitsur, Paul Pollard, Sam Armstrong, and Brain
Wendel. He currently studies trombone with Larry Zalkind and previously studied
with Jeffrey Gray.
