Kevin Spooner, baritone
Maeve Berry, piano
with music by Tosti, Schubert, Tchaikovsky, Owens, and Moore
Kevin
Spooner is a lyric baritone who has performed a diverse breadth of roles
in the operatic repertoire from Mozart, to 21st century opera, to Stephen Sondheim.
Kevin is a senior Vocal Performance major at the Eastman School of Music,
studying with Anthony Dean Griffey. Kevin recently made his 21st century opera
debut as Johannes “Pa” Zegner in Missy Mazzoli’s new opera Proving Up. Kevin was a Young Artist at the Opera Steamboat summer festival in 2021. During his residency, Kevin covered the role of Figaro and played Antonio in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro. Kevin also performed the roles of Sprecher and Armored Guard in Mozart’s Die Zauberflote. Kevin will be returning to Opera Steamboat as a Resident Artist in the summer of 2022. During his residency, he will be making his La Boheme debut as Schuanard and will also be playing Harry in Stephen Sondheim’s Company. Previous roles at Eastman include Poeta in Salieri’s Prima le musica e poi le parole, and Marco in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi. In April of 2022, Kevin will be playing the role of the Wolf in Into the Woods by Stephen Sondheim. Outside of music, Kevin enjoys cooking vegetarian meals and reading Stephen King novels.
